FAQ & Tips

everything you need to know about your photo wedding experience

Work with a skilled wedding planner

Weddings are once-in-a-lifetime events filled with elegant details, timelines, loved ones, and lots of emotions. A wedding planner can help you create the ultimate stress-free wedding day. With a talented planner, you can rest assured that your vision will be fully realized, and that they will capture all the beautiful details of your wedding day.

Wedding Tips

Don't skip an engagement session

Engagement sessions are often the only time that clients meet in person during the planning process if there was no in-person consultation. They are also the perfect opportunity to get to know one another, and get comfortable with the way I photograph to enjoy being photographed together. By the time your wedding day is here, you both will feel much comfortable, which will make your wedding photos fun, natural and less stressful!

Know the sunset time

We like to discuss photo timelines with our clients early in the process to ensure that they are fully informed about the details of their day and to make sure there’s plenty of stunning photo opportunities. We prefer to photograph all of the important details of their day in natural light. To ensure that their day looks great, we build a timeline that fits to the light. Know the sunset time for your wedding day and ideally visit the location the year prior to see the light throughout the day. This will aid in selecting the optimal ceremony, cocktail, and reception times.

Create a realistic wedding day timeline

One of the most important factors that we consider is keeping a wedding timeline that is consistent with the day's schedule. Doing so can help minimize stress and allow you to enjoy a relaxing and productive day. Ideally, schedule some time to relax before the ceremony and enjoy a champagne moment after.

Tip: When alerting the family and bridal party of their times to be ready for portraits, give a time 15 minutes prior to the start of portraits to ensure timeliness

Choose a beautiful place to get ready

The first few hours of planning are typically when we take our most important portraits. When choosing a backdrop, we usually recommend choosing a space that has ample natural light and similar décor or feel to your wedding so the photos flow with the rest of the day.

Details Matter

Prepare all your wedding details should before we begin photographing your getting ready photos; invitations, wedding rings, dress, showers, flowers, etc. We love to capture still life shots that are meaningful to you and your guests.

Consider a First Look

We highly recommend taking the bulk of your portraits prior to the ceremony. Not only will this allow us more time to create beautiful portraits of you and those who matter to you most, but it will allow you to enjoy more of the post-ceremony festivities.

Consider a cell-free ceremony

We have found that at least one of your guests will try to capture your nuptials with a phone, tablet, or their own camera. These devices end up in your wedding photos and create unsightly distractions while blocking the faces and emotions of you and your guests. Cell phones and iPads create a significant obstacle for us at your ceremony. Consider asking your officiant to request putting all device away before starting the announcement.

Enjoy & Trust us

To ensure we are the perfect fit for one another, it’s very important for us to get to know as much as possible about you and your wedding day prior to booking. We love to learn about both of you, your personality, your family, and your background so we get a solid sense of your love story and who you are. After the experience of your engagement session, you will know what to expect on your wedding day. It’s now time to relax and enjoy – be yourselves and leave the rest to us.

Your Experience

I want to take the stress away from your photography experience and create a calm, peaceful environment where we can focus on you and your love. My background in portraiture and editorial photography allows me to take a step back further and see the details with a unique perspective.
